When Yasmeen & Kais approached us to have a couple session, after their very intimate and spontaneous wedding, we discussed some of the locations in and around the well known neighbourhoods of Montreal, Mile-X and Mile-End. We suggested them to bringing elements from life as a couple, important places, things they enjoy doing together.
Montreal is a city of happiness, colourful, and resourceful, with a story full of ups and downs. To show a piece of it was important to them, to reflect an aspect of where Montreal is today and where we want to be in the future.
They’ve chosen Mile-End to represent them the most. Since the 1980s Mile End has been known for its culture as an artistic neighbourhood, home to artists, musicians, writers, and filmmakers.
Yasmeen and Kais feel a connection to each and every place that we visited; from Cafe Union where they get their daily grind, the #missmeart next to St-Viateur Bagel, Dragon Flowers on Bernard, to Jessica Sabogal‘s striking mural, a piece of art created during the The Decolonizing Street Art: Anti-colonial Street Festival that took place in Montreal in 2014.
Needless to say this beautiful couple photographed very well and connected with the camera so naturally!

Her art serves as a haven, a tribute, a creative outlet of adoration and exaltation for women with stories often untold. Her pieces possess a vision of female identity that is revolutionary and powerful, brave and beautiful.
We are always very excited to get to do something a little different and we especially enjoy shooting adventurous couples who want to break away from the norms.
